Wiregrass Ranch versus Armwood for this 2019 season and next year will be a game to watch for just because of the level both teams are at in their respective counties.

The Bulls have rushed off to a 5-0 start to the season, with key victories against Zephyrhills, Nature Coast and River Ridge have Wiregrass Ranch confident at the halfway point. At the other end is state powerhouse Armwood, whom is currently 3-1 on the season and the Hawks’ lone loss came up against North Gwinnett in a 26-23 double overtime thriller.

Another added dimension to this game is the fact Wiregrass Ranch will be going up against former starting quarterback Hunter Helton and wide receiver Noah Biglow, whom both played for the Bulls back in the spring when they faced East Lake. Helton is surely going to see his fair share of snaps at quarterback and Biglow likely will get targeted. The love loss may not be much between Wiregrass Ranch and its former starter, but the Bulls have done just fine without Helton.

At the helm for the Bulls is sophomore quarterback Rocco Becht, who was thrown into the fire because of Helton’s departure, the young signal caller has been one of the best passers in the Tampa Bay area. Becht through five games has thrown for over 900 yards and 12 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

On the other side of the tape is the two-headed quarterback monster of Cam’ron Ransom and Helton, whom combined for over 600 yards passing. Ransom has thrown for six touchdowns so far, s the former Seffner Christian signal caller gets the bulk of the snaps on offense. Watch out for Armwood running back Eric Wilson (225 yards) to get the main share of the carries.

Wiregrass Ranch’s main playmaker is wide receiver Keith Walker, which the dynamo has done it on the ground and through the air. Walker has rushed for 154 yards on 11 carries and has 461 yards receiving for the undefeated Bulls. If Wiregrass Ranch looks to pull off the upset, they’ll need Becht and Walker to continue their great connection they’ve had this season. Defensively, Dylan Ridolph has been the Bulls’ too tackler and sack leader, with the senior racking up five so far this season.
